In the second part of Chapter 1 it talks about how agriculture created a new way of life. Agriculture began the domestication of many animals and plants, they became reliant on human action and protection. Climate change also had a lot to do with the Agricultural Revolution, because it caused many mammals to go extinct so homo sapiens had to find another way to find food and to live their lives. With agriculture becoming more popular the population increased so it was required to help support growing populations. Technology also played a big part of the agricultural revolution in the being horticulture was the bets technology because plows had yet to be created, but using animals manure to support their agricultural helps farmers and herbers. Their were 14 species that were domesticated the 4 most important animals were pigs, sheep, goats and horses, without these animals american lacked protein, fertilizer and power. As agriculture grew world wide so did the population, world population 6 million years ago was about 10,000 it shot up to 50 million 5,000 years ago and to 250 million by the common era. As agriculture grow politics changed as well, because agriculture developed sustainable economic surplus and everyone became involved rich, poor, slaves and free people. So with that being said there became chiefdom in society, leading to more inequality among genders and social classes.
Which statement of Tacitus might you regard as reliable, and which are more suspect? Why? I do not think that we can take any statements from Tacitus as reliable except for statements that are purely factual. This is because it states that Tacitus never visited the lands of the people he described. He only relied on others works of writing and story telling. We cannot regard him as reliable becuase we do not even know if there is any credibility in his statements.
